The monitoring at the Gilimanuk Port has been enhanced
to prevent offenders from attempting to access the island using fake quick
antigen documents.
Yeti Sugiarti, the Health Coordinator of the Gilimanuk
Port, said that upon arrival, all ferry passengers must go through a proper
screening done by authorities at the Gilimanuk Port. “All visitors will be
subjected to a thorough screening in order to obtain admission to the island,
and we will ensure that all of their quick antigen documents are genuine by
scanning the barcode if necessary.” On Monday (9/8), Sugiarti stated.
Sugiarti also revealed that some passengers managed to
sneak by the document screening at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi, East Java,
before departing despite displaying police fraudulent documents. “People who
reportedly displayed false Covid-19 test records at Gilimanuk Port were forced
by our officers to undergo fast antigen tests to ensure that they did not have
Covid. We are aware that fraudulent passports are still being sold near the
Ketapang Port in Java.” Sugiarti added.
She also encourages travelers to have their Covid-19
testing at medical facilities that include barcodes on their quick antigen certificates,
so that authorities can easily verify their legitimacy. “We strongly encourage
all clinics and other medical facilities in Java to print a barcode on each
rapid antigen document so that we can immediately scan any questionable
documents with our applications during the screening process.” Sugiarti
concluded. This program was started to reassure the province authorities
that Gilimanuk Port can prevent Covid-19 transmissions over one of the island's
main borders.
