More than five hundred thousand Western Australians visit Bali every year and the number is only increasing every year. While some enjoy their vacations on the Island of Gods at the fullest, some fall in the line of the unfortunate and have to cut their vacation short. The reason is almost the same for everyone and that is the infamous " Bali Belly"

Bali Belly is caused by a change dietary and environmental conditions caused by a E-Coli bacteria. After suffering for many years experts have finally figured out a vaccine for it that can prevent it from happening. “The vaccine we’re talking about is called Dukoral,” Dr Aidan Perse, from Travel Health Plus, said.

Researchers have recently discovered that this vaccine can prevent short term prevention from E-coli bacteria without having to go through the pain of taking a needle. Megan Loney a tourist shared that she & her boyfriend had to experience the worst of Bali Bally on their vacations last year on her 24th birthday.

“I think I got it from a strawberry daiquiri which was filled with ice,” she said.

“But I could have got it from the water falls ingestion from the water there.”

The five-day trip was ruined with Ms Loney missing out on watersport activities and other things she had pre-paid.

“You don’t want to go on a holiday where you are stuck in a hotel room the whole time,” she said.

The vaccine costs around $100 plus the consult fee, plus there’s a cheaper over the counter option that sells for around $30.

Dr Perse also confirmed that Travelan capsule does the same thing which cholera vaccine does. However you have to go through the trouble of taking one capsule before every meal and it will prevent you from E-Coli for that meal only. She also said that it is a great option for the travelers as they have to remember that Bali is a developing country and the conditions there are not the same as their country.
