Bintang Supermarket has been an iconic landmark of Bali for years and it is indeed one of the best and largest grocery stores in Bali. It has always been a huge source of attractions both for tourists, locals and expats because of the variety and diversity it offers.

However unfortunately its has been burned down and devastated by fire. Firefighters rushed to the scene as quickly as they could after the fire was reported and with their efforts they were able to control the blaze of fire under control. The fire though was put down shortly after but an extensive damage has been caused.

I Wayan Sunarta, the head of Seminyak Environment stated that the incident of fire happened around 2:45 in the morning. As per the reports the fire started at the back side of the supermarket. “Initially at the back of the supermarket, the fire first broke out and there was a time when someone tried to put out the fire but could not and the fire spread” he said.

Authorities have requested the tourists and the residents to avoid the area for a while as they only made a narrow passage for two wheel vehicles for the site. Delays were observed because of people stopping by or slowing down to watch the iconic building that suffered the damage.

As per the reports the fire has caused damaged to several stores in the complex including a pharmacy, post office, record shop, souvenir shop, mobile counter, restaurant, cafe, clothing store and several small kiosks. As per an estimate the damage has been suffered at the area of around 350 square meters.

However the cause of fire has not been determined and remains unknown. The investigators are on the scene to finalize their report.
