Every now and then we all need a vacation just to relax & ease your mind of the worries of the world. What’s better than to get away on an island, sipping margaritas and enjoying the sun without anyone to bother you. Bali may hold all the beauty that you seek but sometimes some locals can make it difficult for you to enjoy. Some of the bad experience include going through different scams like being charged extra for luggage insurance or being asked for double or triple the actual price for things they knew we were interested to buy. One thing I learned is that either stay in a five star hotel or rent a villa & if you can’t, do not stay in a local hotel. As you may find people sleeping outside your rooms and waiting for you to come out so they can follow you all around trying to sell you things you don’t need or want. Your walks can get annoying sometimes as almost every taxi driver will honk at you asking if you need to go somewhere. However as they say it’s a mixture of good & bad I also came across some very good people during my stay. There was a bartender Inder at a local bar who just loved making drinks for us and even offered us some on the house. A local craft shop owner lady Anita was very welcoming & she invited us for dinner. After our hotel problem we met Alban he is the owner of a local real estate company called Kibarer Property. He and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. They took us to lunch and showed us a lot of villas without rushing even though we know we were being very annoying. So after having such bad experiences these people were a delight for us and made us forget our bad experiences.
