Despite the fact that it has become a tourist attraction, a tiny village in Bali has remained adamant of protecting its tradition and it’s cleanliness keeping it unmotorised. The village is Penglipuran located in Bangli regency, has hence gained renown for its cleanliness and beauty.

The word ‘Penglipuran’ comes from ‘Pengeling Pura’ meaning ‘shrine to recalled the ancestors’. The tiny village located in Bangli in Bali has become a traveler’s favorite destination because of the cleanliness, beauty and traditional life it still maintains


With its houses that line the sloping streets and its green feel, as no cars or motorcycles can enter the village, it has retained a unique feel. Every vehicle has to be parked  at the village gate, making Penglipuran free from traffic, noise and exhaust fumes. This makes Penglipuran village a very refreshing experience among the many traffic busy locations on Bali. Bangli is at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and is the only district in Bali that is not immediately adjacent to the sea. Penglipuran’s roads are made of natural stone, with colorful flowers growing in many places. There are bougainvillea, hibiscus, roses, and Cambodia flowers making it a feast for the eyes.
