After coming in a little bit behind schedule, construction rebuilding the Yellow Bridge connecting Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan has reportedly been completed.
The bridge, an iconic point of interest connecting the two small islands east of Bali, collapsed in October 2016, tragically killing eight.
The new Yellow Bridge runs 140 meters long and at 1.8 meters wide, it’s 0.2 meters wider than its predecessor. The new bridge should have a weight-bearing capacity of 30 tons, but is intended for pedestrians and motorcyclists in particular, according to reports.
An inauguration for the bridge has been scheduled for Feb. 25, 2017 with traditional Bali communities.
The bridge was built using national funds through the National Rivers Authority Bali-Penida, amounting to Rp 3.4 billion,” bridge construction supervisor Siswanto said on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara Bali.
