You may have come across a lot of sensational posts on social media about Bali being on a brink of banning alcohol. This may happen or it may not, it isn't finalized yet however this has caused a lot of panic in our Australian friends. Their sources have them on their toes with a worry of their favorite partying Island getting booze free is a scary thought for them.
The West Australian newspaper already posted an article about proposed ban for alcohol in Bali has already caused an uproar. However we would like to state our opinion here. First of all Bali is a part of a country called Indonesia so the decision is not entirely up to Bali as they won't be making the law. Secondly if this law even applies in Indonesia as it is a muslim country high chances are of Bali being exempted from this law as the majority population of Bali is balinese hindus. It is not that other media resources are not aware of these facts, they are and they are stating the same things in the later part of their articles. The stories they are publishing is with a catchy title to get the attention of the readers.
This news went viral after an article was published in the Jakarta Post which fairly covered the bill proposed by Islamic Parties PPP & PKS of banning drinks containing the alcohol percentage from 1-55. However the government of Indonesia is also aware of the fact that if this law will be applied to Bali, their tourism which is a major source of their revenue will drop down and it is a big calculated risk for them which they will have to take very carefully exploring all their options.
