Bali Government recently announced a last minute PCR test as a requirement for visiting Bali as it was to be enforced by 18th December and it received a lot of backlash from the public. However on 17th Officials announced change of plans with a modified set of rules as a response to back lash.
Regional Secretary of Bali Administration, Dewa Made Indra said that requirement of swab test will now be enforced from 19th December. However air travelers can now provide a pcr test rest of within 7 days instead of two days.
“This means if a person already has their PCR test results three, four, five, six, and seven days before departing [to Bali], it will be permitted, as long as it is valid … So [the rules have been] eased here,” Indra said.
The requirement of presenting negative pcr test will be applicable till January 4 2021 while travelers from other mode of transportation are required to submit negative antigen rapid test results. Children below 12 are now not required to present any test as per the new modification.
The pre modified announcement resulted in mass requests of plane ticket refunds which amounted to a total of IDR 317 billion as of last Wednesday. Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati said that the government decided upon the new rules to prevent a surge of COVID-19 cases in the province with the upcoming year-end holiday, as officials gear up to potentially reopen foreign tourism next year.
