Officials from the Bali
Health Agency have ensured that the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine is safe for
pregnant women.
Dr. Ketut Suarjaya, the Head of the Bali Health
Agency, acknowledged that, in addition to Bali's medical personnel, pregnant
women are being targeted for the Covid-19 vaccine, and he assures that the
Moderna vaccine that is presently being distributed is safe for both pregnant
and breastfeeding moms. “We started our Covid-19 vaccine program for pregnant
women in Bali, and it has been doing well so far.” On Wednesday (25/8), Dr.
Suarjaya stated.
According to data from the Bali provincial government,
pregnant women, particularly those with pre-existing diseases, are more likely
to have lower immunity against disease or infection, including the Coronavirus,
throughout their maternity. “As part of our attempt to lower the danger of
becoming infected with Covid-19, it is critical to safeguard the most
vulnerable by disseminating this vaccine.” Dr. Suarjaya said.
The first dosage of the vaccine is scheduled to be
administered to pregnant women during the second trimester of their pregnancy.
Suarjaya further stated that the provincial government's daily vaccination
objective for medical professionals has been reduced because many of them
experienced fever symptoms for an average of three days after receiving the
third dose of Covid-19 vaccine from Moderna. “Many of our health workers developed
a fever after receiving the vaccine booster from Moderna, rendering them unable
to work at our hospital, and we would suffer immensely if we do not have enough
staff to work at the medical facilities. So we need to slow down a little bit
to give everyone time to recuperate while still meeting the demands of the
hospital.” Dr. Suarjaya concluded.
