The local administration of Klungkung in Bali launched a mobile application called "Klungkung Tourism" on Friday (28/04) to better promote the region as a tourist destination, an official statement issued by the Tourism Ministry said.

A launch event for the app was held near the Puputan Klungkung Monument — a monument to mark the massacre of Klungkung's royal family by the Dutch in 1908 — during the district's Semarapura Festival 2017.

Available now for Android smartphones, the app offers a complete guide for tourists visiting Klungkung, including information on local tourist attractions, accommodation, public facilities and upcoming events.

The app's bilingual feature allows information to be viewed in either English or Bahasa Indonesia.

"The app can be downloaded from the Google Playstore. Now visitors can get all the information they need about Klungkung from their smartphones," Klungkung District Head I Nyoman Suwirta said.

The light-sized app — it only takes seven megabytes of storage — is also equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) to navigate visitors to their desired locations.
