The central government has announced that Bali will have the largest cruise ship port in Indonesia.

SOE Minister Erick Tohir emphasized that the central government would develop the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) to boost Bali's economy.

The project will be located in the Benoa port area in southern Bali, where the government also plans to develop a cruise ship terminal, cargo terminal, and fishing area.

Erick said, once the construction is complete, BMTH will help promote the island's creative economy by displaying local products.

"We plan to only allow local products such as food and crafts at BMTH to give local residents the opportunity to prosper," Erick said in a written announcement, Saturday (1/1).

This program is expected to start its activities in 2023 as the center of Indonesian marine tourism. This is in line with the Superhub development program initiated by the president.

This will enable the micro-economy and creative economy sectors to create a new ecosystem for Bali, which is expected to become a home port for international cruise ships.
