The first batch of corona virus vaccine arrived in Bali yesterday. This is because of the New Tourism Minister of Indonesia's idea of prioritizing the vaccination for 70% of the province’s population to kickstart tourism on the island.
As per the reports about 31000 vaccination doses were on its way to Bali from Sinovac from West Java capital of Bandungwith authorities expecting its arrival later tonight. As of today, Indonesia is still awaiting authorization to start using the Chinese vaccines.
The mass inoculation program of the South East Asian country is aiming to reach the herd immunity quickly by prioritizing the professional work age between 18 and 59 years old, notable contrast to several other countries, such as the US and the UK, which have begun their vaccinations by prioritizing elderly people, who are more vulnerable to COVID-19.
Bali Health agency recently stated that 2.7 million people out of 4.3 million in the province belong to the working age class. 30000 of which have been identified as the essential health workers.
“The [vaccine] administration will be phased out, according to the arrival of the vaccines. We will surely prioritize health workers,” the agency’s chief Ketut Suarjaya previously said.
Sandiaga Uno New Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy recently shared how important it is to prioritize the vaccination for the 70% of the population of Bali and how it can be a key factor on reopening the borders to international tourism. Thus this will help the region to recover and restart its economy that has been hammered by Corona Virus pandemic.
