covid-19 green zones in bali
As the daily covid-19 cases of Bali has dropped in recent weeks, the talks to reopening Bali to mass tourism have sprung up. Governor of Bali Wayan Koster shared that there might be "green zones" of Corona Virus on the Island open to all travelers.
“[The Bali administration] along with the Health Ministry are formulating green zones, and these green zones are places where both domestic and foreign tourists will be allowed to visit,” Koster said at the launch of a drive-thru vaccination center in Nusa Dua. Details are yet to be shared by the Governor.
Other Indonesian Ministers including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan have also brought potential plans as well. Ministers are very optimistic about the decline in corona virus cases in Bali while stressing on penalizing those violating health protocols.
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno also previously said that some areas in Bali, such as Nusa Dua, Ubud, Kuta, and Nusa Penida, may be designated as green or COVID-19-free zones.
Indef (The Institute for Development of Economics and Finance) however have warned that Bali should only be opened to foreign tourism only when the situation of public health is under control.
Rusli Abdullah, Indef Researcher shared his thoughts of double screening implementation where the foreigners are required required to present official COVID-19-free letters while undergoing further examination upon arrival.
