Bali residents may start receiving the vaccination for corona virus in the 3rd week of December as per Indonesina government. Luhut Binsar, Coordinator of Maritime and Investment stated that as per the plan corona virus vaccination distribution in Indonesia is estimated to start by the end of December 2020.
“We are keen to see Bali become a green zone, which is our target. We are optimistic of Bali becoming a green zone at the start of next year, as we will commence vaccinations in the third week of December,” Luhut said during a virtual meeting.
Originally the distribution for vaccination program was to start in November but due to unforeseen reason it has been pushed to the end of December.
Luhut further shared that the vaccination development is being managed by Sinovac and Bio Pharma in Bandung, West Java is currently in 3rd phase trials of clinical testing.
To start the vaccination delivery Indonesian Government needs to seek the approval for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Indonesian Food and Drugs Surveillance Agency (BPOM).
The initial distribution will start from the areas considered as red zones meaning the areas with the highest positive cases such as in the case of Jakarta.
“There are several areas that will be at the top of my priority list to deliver the vaccine to prevent the cases from from surging any further” Luhut said.
Due to high dependency on tourism Bali is on high priority list and government intends to clear Bali of corona virus by early 2021. The government is currently waiting for the Indonesian Drugs Surveillance Agency to issue the emergency use authorization for the vaccination.
