As they say with beauty comes consequences and it totally applies to Bali. Being the Island of Gods and the number one tourist spot in the world it has its downside which can ruin your good trip in seconds. Here are some common scam practices that you need to be careful of when you are visiting Bali.

The Money Changer Scam

Of course the first thing you look for when you land in a foreign country is to look for a money changer to get the local currency. You will find money changers in almost every corner of Bali however you should always check the exchange rate from internet and should only go to authorized money changers at the airport.

The Taxi Scam

You have to be very careful while looking for a taxi when you land in Bali. As most taxi drivers try to scam the customers by taking unnecessary longer routes, no meter or making the excuse of not having the proper change to return back. Always use the cab facility registered with the airport or use uber and other authentic services.

Unlicensed Guides

You are going to come across a lot of unlicensed guides who will offer you services of showing the Island. Do not talk or get into an agreement with them as they are going to charge you for the services you never requested. Always request for the licensed guides from your hotel staff or the attraction you are visiting.

Extortionists

You are going to come across a lot of them and yes by a lot we do mean a lot. For example they are going to ask you for the fee for taking their photos or you photo or they are going to ask you to pay for the damages you have never caused. So you have to be very careful while interacting with the locals during your visit.
