Jenja X Jack
Continuing our monthly JACK! events playing Detroit techno, Chicago house, acid house, deeper tracks and forgotten cuts; this month we have recruited Stuart Mclellan from pioneering UK label Pacific Records.
Stuart Mclellan (Pacific Records / UK)
Stuart started DJing in London in 1990, and in ‘94 he founded Pacific Records label, which would become the defining techno and house label of that generation showcasing artists such like Carl Craig, Charles Webster, Hot Lizard, Ian O’Brien, Mike Dunn and Stacey Pullen.
From there he moved to Paris where he co-ran the infamous Sunday “Cake and Milk” parties, hosting big-name guests like Gilles Peterson, Peter Kruder, DJ Harvey, Rainer Truby, Laurent Garnier, Ivan Smagghe and Pete Herbert. Around the same time, Stuart worked with Pete Herbert for their Pacific Blue parties where they held residencies at Paris’ La Fabrique and Club Deep in Madrid. Continuing to play between Asia and Europe, Stu has garnered a reputation as a DJ’s DJ.
London based ‘Pacific Records’ ran by Stuart Mclellan and Justin Deighton has been championed as one of the more influential labels of that era. Many of the tracks are standing the test of time and are now being re-circulated online by the new wave of house and techno record diggers. Producers and re-mixers that worked with Pacific read like an all-star sports team featuring, Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen, Claude Young, Damon Wild, Dennis Ferrer, Steve Rachmad, Mike Dunn and Mark Broom. The label’s consistent, mature, deep sound is still receiving plaudits years down the line, with industry heads mentioning Pacific Records in the same realms as the likes of early Soma and Solid Groove.
Ticket price 150k.
