Traffic congestion is very normal at Canggu's main road, you will understand what we mean if you have visited or are living in Bali. Locals and tourists are so used to the bottle neck congestion at Canggu main road that they usually don't mind the traffic blocks. However on 8th May Canggu observed its worst bottleneck traffic ever in its history.
Hundreds of vehicles were just stuck, piled and lined up on the Morning of 8th May. The congestion was so long that the traffic was stuck all the way from North Kuta district office to the Pantai Berawa intersection and on to Pantai Batu Bolong, continuing to the Jl. Batu Mejan junction, local reports observed.
Motorcyclists who usually find their way around very easily even in the worse of the traffic confirmed that a regular trip from Kerobokan to Cemagi Village, Mengwi took at least an hour. That route with its high congestion normally takes 20 minutes so imagine how bad this bottle neck was.
“Imagine this, I departed from Kerobokan around 8am, arriving at my destination, Cemagi Village, at 9am. This is one of the most severe jams yet,” the motorcyclist told
The main route taken by majority for reaching Kuta from Tanah Lot has narrow roads and currently has been narrowed further due to public works projects at the moment.
Head of the Badung Regency Department of Transportation, Tofan Priyanto, says the buildup is inevitable at the moment with the plumbing project in the works.
Larges buses and trucks should reroute through Kediri to avoid Jl. Raya Canggu and help clear the congestion, advises Priyanto.
