New year eve is one of the most anticipated evening of the year and Bali is no different. Tourists from all around the world flock to the resort Island for new year celebrations however this year it seemed unlikely. However the good news is that Bali's provincial administration has allowed hotels, restaurants and tourists destinations to hold the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebration under COVID-19 health protocols in a bid to revive the famed resort island’s tourism sector.

Putu Astawa, head of Bali tourism agency has said that administration has not issued any restrictions.

“There are no restrictions yet. We still allow [celebrations] on the condition that health protocols are implemented and capacity is limited to 50 percent,” he said on Friday as reported by kompas.com.

Dewa Nyoman Rai Darmada, Head of Bali Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) shared that his office will be there help in monitoring the locations with possible crowd gatherings by deploying its personnel. 

“We will conduct direct field monitoring at gathering points,” he said.

While he also said that an advisory will be announced by the authorities in Bali to request the residents to adhere the sops and avoid gatherings in large crowds on the New Year Celebrations.

The authorities believe and are putting their trust in the residents to adhere with the issued health protocols with the on going corona virus pandemic as it is because of the mutual interest of every one to recover and restore the tourism sector of Bali.

“Bali people really feel the burden of [the decline] in tourism. Tourism is almost empty and [they are faced] with layoffs. They are fully aware about upholding health protocols to keep Bali safe from COVID-19,” Darmadi said.
