Jakarta. The Port Master Plan intended for the Port of Benoa in Denpasar, Bali, was recently approved by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, according to Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Construction on the port, as well as dredging of the Benoa Marina, are expected to begin on Sept. 11.

According to Luhut, the port will be equipped with a large-enough dock to serve at least 100 incoming and foreign yachts.

Nearby resorts and a shopping center are also planned for development.

"Therefore, the port can accommodate tourists who want to stay a moment before continuing their trip to other destinations, such as Komodo Island [East Nusa Tenggara], Lombok [West Nusa Tenggara] or Labuan Bajo [East Nusa Tenggara]," Luhut said.

Benoa Port is expected to begin operations by the end of 2018.
