The Bali Tourism Union has called on the government to allow companies to hold New Year's celebrations.

The president of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) in Bali, Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana, submitted a proposal to the government, asking Bali's tourism companies to hold New Year's celebrations with strict rules.

"I have asked the government for permission to organize a party for New Year's Eve," Adnyana said on Wednesday (8/12).

Adnyana explained that the celebration is similar to traditional activities, such as religious ceremonies that take place regularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I think the holiday will be similar to our religious ceremony in Bali, where a lot of people gather during the event. Everything will be safe as long as the prevention protocols are implemented correctly, ”Adnyana added.

He also said the parties would have strict regulations, where violators would face dire consequences. This will prevent the creation of a Covid-19 cluster during the celebration. “Companies planning to organize a party should apply for permission. They can lose their license if it is proven that they have violated the requirements, ”Adnyana concluded.

Meanwhile, Adnyana admitted that no tourism company has planned a New Year's Eve party because authorities still ban it.
