Officials from the Sanglah Public Hospital in Denpasar
reported that the number of Covid-19 patients has been drastically reduced
since the Covid-19 Vaccine was distributed.
Dr. Wayan Sudana, President Director of the Sanglah
Public Hospital, stated that Sanglah Public Hospital was one of the designated
facilities to treat Covid-19 patients in Bali, and that they have confirmed
that Covid-19 cases in Bali have drastically decreased. “We've observed a
decrease in Covid-19 patients after the vaccination began to be distributed.”
On Friday (28/5), Dr. Sudana said.
He noted that the majority of the Covid-19-ready beds
in Sanglah Hospital are now empty. “We used to have roughly 202 beds here to
accommodate Covid-19 patients, but we decided to cut the number of beds to 164
as Covid cases continue to decline.” Dr. Sudana went on to say. Only 16 of the
164 available beds (or 9.7 percent) were filled on Friday (28/5).
He further stated that out of a total of 16 patients
on Friday, 13 are being treated in the ICU and the other 3 are being treated in
standard isolation rooms. Despite the decrease of Covid-19 cases at Sanglah
Hospital, Dr. Sudana stated that the hospital must remain vigilant because
Covid transmissions tend to spike after the holiday season. “We were recently
cautioned by the Health Minister to stay alert and always be prepared since
Covid cases tend to spike after the holidays.” Dr. Sudana stated.
