By partnering with Communication and Informatics Agency (Kominfo) Government is going to enable free wifi connectivity for 55 villages in Badung District. This new program is a great effort by the government to support education and small businesses in the region.
The "WIFI Corner" is sponsored by Kominfo which grants free wifi to the villages through the installation of networks that connect all the houses in the area.
IGN Jaya Saputra, The head of Kominfo shared in an interview that thousands of residents will have free access to the internet in Badung.
“With at least 250 households in each village, thousands of people will enjoy WiFi access once the installation is complete” Jaya Saputra said.
Areas that lack strong network coverage are being prioritized by Kominfo for development including Bindu, Pecatu and Sembung Villages.
As a result of this development and offer, several schools including Belok Elementary School 4 and some from South and North Badung have also requested access.
“The internet will have a speed of 100 mbps. Once the economy starts to recover from the current crisis, we will consider increasing it” Jaya Spautra concluded.
This free wifi access will also be granted to the traditional markets as an effort to help business owners advertise and sell online. This program hopes to set a new benchmark and influence new start ups, ecommerce to accelerate the devastated economy of Bali.
