Officials from the
Denpasar city government have turned a 5-star hotel in Sanur into a Covid-19
quarantine facility.
In reaction to the new central government directive to
house all asymptomatic Covid-19 patients in Bali, the Mayor of Denpasar, IGN
Jaya Negara, has chosen to convert the 5-star Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur
into a quarantine centre for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients. Grand Bali Beach
Hotel was established while Indonesia's first President, Soekarno, was still in
power, and it is planned to house about 250 Covid-19 patients during full
functioning.
“We agreed to meet with various different institutions
and support this coordinated quarantine effort for asymptomatic Covid-19
patients in Denpasar based on those instructions.” On Saturday (14/8), Jaya
Negara conducted an inspection at the Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur.
According to the federal government's Maritime and Investment Coordinator
Minister, Luhut Binsar Panjdaitan, a centralized quarantine program is seen to
be a method to prevent Covid-19 transmissions from spreading across family
clusters in Bali.
Aside from the Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Jaya Negara has
added numerous hotels and government buildings to serve as official quarantine
facilities in the Denpasar area. Apart from that, he maintains optimizing the
Testing, Tracing, and Treatment (3T) Program and deploying additional officials
to implement it. “We've been in contact with numerous organizations to confirm
the availability of those hotels, as well as monitoring food aid delivery to
our inhabitants and optimizing the 3T program. And we sincerely believe that
via these efforts, we will be able to gain a better understanding of the
Covid-19 transmissions in Denpasar.” Jaya Negara concluded.
